뿌리를 지키며 더욱 풍성해지다!
요즘 영국 헤비씬이 무섭게 달아오르는 가운데 그 중 단연 최고의 밴드라고 한다면 필자는
한치의 망설임없이 “Architects”라고 말할 것입니다.
이제 너무나도 잘나가버리는 bmth(브링미더호라이즌)의 명맥을 따라서 비슷한 시기에 밴드를 시작했지만 그들만의 묵
직한 스타일로 밀고가면서 단단한 팬층을 보유하고있죠!
각설하고 얼마 전 새 앨범 ‘Holy Hell’에 수록 곡 중 "Hereafter"가 뮤비로 선 공개 되었는데요~
해당 곡을 들어 봤을 때 필자는 기대 반 실망 반이였는데요,,,,섣부른 판단 일 수 있겠지만
"Hereafter"라는 곡으로 미루어 보았을 때 전작, 전 전작과 크게 다를 것 없는 스타일의 느낌
을 받았습니다, 하지만 한편으로는 “그들만의 아이덴티티가 이런 식의 느낌으로 단단해 지는구나” 라는 안도도 느
껴졌습니다.
그도 그럴것이 요즘 밴드들의 진화 과정을 보자면 중간에 변화를 꾀하여 역변하는 경우가 많기 때문에 “Architects”
처럼 단단한 그들만의 스타일을 고수하는 것도 긍정적이라고 볼 수 있겠죠~
( 하지만 “Architects”의 초창기 작품들은 좀 실망스러움…)
아무튼 이번 신곡에서도 “Architects” 시그네쳐 사운드인 특유의 기타리프는 전작과의 연장선상
에 있는 앨범이 될 것이라고 예상되구요~
들으면 들을수록 보컬 Sam Carter의 파워풀한 음역대에 반할수밖에 없는곡이네요…
